The Law of Correspondence

After the Law of Mentalism comes the Law of Correspondence.  With this principle, we become aware of the fractal nature of the universe…a similar pattern repeats across all scales of existence: What does this mean? This basically means that our current “outside” reality is a mirror of what is going on inside us. In other words, our reality is a result of our inner most dominant thought(s). “As within, so without, as above, so below.

So how do we apply this principle to our daily lives? We apply this by thinking positive thoughts and as we do this, our surrounding reality then begins to change to a positive one as well. It is important to know that as we change our thinking from a negative state to a positive state, we must employ our hearts/feelings and believe that this is happening.

Many people find themselves disappointed that they’ve tried this for a few minutes but the end result turns out negatively anyway. Again, what’s important to realize is that your heart must be engaged in this belief as well and it is not just a matter of just thinking positively for the next 5 minutes and forgetting about it. It takes focus and a constant “re-guiding” of your thoughts from the negative back to the positive.

Let’s go a little deeper. So many of us have tried and failed and begin to doubt the validity of this principle. I know early on I doubted as well. What is needed, is to begin to recognize your “underlying beliefs”. Your underlying beliefs are the subconscious thoughts that may have been put there at a very young age. An example I like to use is when someone says that they want to lose weight. They do everything they can, exercise, eat healthy and yet, they find themselves frustrated that their attempts are not working. Why does this happen? One reason which is not outwardly obvious, (because it sits deep in your subconscious mind) is that as they were a young child, maybe they were told by their parent(s), “you will always be a chunky girl/boy. Being fat runs in the family”…

Our subconscious minds hold on to these statements as a deep inner belief. So how do we change this? We change this by giving ourselves positive affirmations on a daily basis…“I am healthy, I am thin, I am beautiful”, etc.  Another way is through hypnotherapy where the hypnotherapist can guide you into recognizing these underlying beliefs about yourself and thereby dispelling them. Also daily meditation helps you to change these negative beliefs.

Following these 7 Universal principals takes daily consistent effort. Again it is not enough to just “think about them” but going deep within to make the necessary changes in one’s thinking and beliefs. It’s about getting to “Know Thyself”.

Until next time, Happy thoughts everyone!

The Law of Mentalism

In the early days of my Spiritual search, I came across a website that explained the Seven Universal/Spiritual Principles. (Also called the Seven Hermetic principles). I believe that in my quest for Spiritual answers, I was lead to this information to understand the Truth of All Things.

So what are the Seven Universal Principles? (Also called the Seven Hermetic Principles or Seven Universal Laws).  What is “Hermetism” and who were the “Hermeticists”?  Hermetism is a set of philosophical and religious beliefs which emerged in late antiquity probably around the 2nd or 3rd centuries and is based on writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus who is sometimes believed to have been a wise sage and Egyptian priest called “Thoth”. The Greeks knew him as “Hermes”. In general however, the Hermeticists believe in a Supreme Deity or Principle. There is much written on the web regarding Hermes, Hermetism and the Kybalion. The Kybalion are writings based on the Hermetic philosophy written by a person or persons under the pseudonym of “the Three Initiates”. This book claims to be the essence of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. In these writings, there are listed the Seven Universal Principal which I have listed in the previous blog.

In the foregoing entries, I will attempt to explain in a simplified manner, what each of these Principals mean. As I mentioned above, there is much information on the web regarding these principals and it is up to each individual to do your own research to get more information. I discuss these principals in a very simplified manner so that those of you who thirst for Truth will have within you a “spark” of understanding that will lead you to want to know more. If you are ready to hear and learn about these arcane matters, you will find that your understanding is quickened and you will experience a resonance from these writings. “When the ears of the student are ready to hear, then cometh the lips to fill them with Wisdom.”–The Kybalion.

Law One:

“The All is Mind, The Universe is Mental”. This is the first Universal Law and this law dictates that all of creation exists in the Mind of God and by extension, our lives exist in our minds.

No matter what our belief, our race, or where we are, we cannot escape the presence of God. There are many names for God. You may call God, Allah, The Source, The Universal Presence, Divine Energy, etc., but have you heard God being called “The All”? Think of this statement: “All is in The All, and The All is in All”. “The All” or “God” is the Creator and Causation of all things…the micro and macrocosm of everything around us. (S)He is within and without all of his creations and in His Creative aspect, the “Infinite Living Mind” or “All” or “God Consciousness” generates enormous vibratory energy through the effort of His will and manifests all things. Both Atomic and sub atomic particles (matter) exists by these virtues. The Kybalion states that The All (which is the Substantial Reality underlying all the outward manifestations and appearances which we know under the terms of “The Material Universe”. The phenomena of Life, Matter, Energy and in short, all that is apparent to our material senses) is “Spirit” which in itself is unknowable and undefinable, but which may be considered and thought of as an Universal Infinite, Living Mind.

When I first heard this, there was a stirring within me and a resonance which told me that I was on to something. I kept repeating this statement in my head, over and over again and I was struck by the simplicity of it. I understood what it meant and I was in awe of it All. I understood that it told me that “The All”, or God, was in all things which (S)He created. This is much like the painter, sculptor or writer who creates his art piece and is involved, or a part of His/Her creation. “The All” or “God” is not outside of us but within us and nothing escapes this law.

How do we apply this law to our everyday lives? If the Universe is a mental construct of “The All” and we are all extensions of that, we are also mental beings and have the ability to mentally change or create our very existence. It is a “watching” of our thoughts. In a simplified explanation, it is about the power of your positive thinking.

The first question to ask yourself is, “What do I want”? Best results come from being very crystal clear in knowing exactly what it is you desire. At first this may be difficult because for so many people, often people don’t know what they want. Then you many want to make a list of things that you know you DON’T want, then work your way up to what you DO want. Keep working on this list until you have narrowed it down to the exactness of what you do want and when thinking about it, feel the excitement of it and imagine how you will feel when you have this very thing that you want. This should bring a smile to your face. Keep thinking about it and keep feeling excited about it.

Any physical reality has started off as a conscious thought/desire and you can create your perfect day (in your mind) and have it manifest for you in the physical. When have all heard the statement, “mind over matter”. When we concentrate and dwell on something, whether it is good or bad, it will come to pass. The Universe through your thought process MUST respond. It is the Law.

Until next time, “Know Thyself”.

7 Universal/Spiritual Principles

There are 7 Universal Laws or Principles by which everything in the Universe is governed. The Universe exists in perfect harmony by virtue of these laws. (Also called THE SEVEN HERMETIC PRINCIPLES)

Understanding and utilizing each of these laws allows a person to “be in the flow” when we are able to consciously apply each of these 7 laws. It will help us to always maintain a sense of wellbeing. We become the movers and shakers in life instead of being moved around like pawns on the chessboard of life.

There will be a lot of material here and I ask that you keep an open mind when reading. Much information will be foreign to you if you are not ready to hear it…and that’s ok. Ponder upon what you read here and there will be a time when you are able to grasp its meaning.

So get ready to be blasted with some deep Spiritual concepts. This is very powerful information that may even stir up some opposition within the reader…

1.  The Principle of Mentalism—This principle embodies the truth that “ALL is Mind.” It explains that THE ALL (the Substantial Reality underlying all the outward manifestations and appearances which we know as, “The Material Universe”, “Energy”, “Matter”, “God”, or “Source”)…is…Spirit, which in itself is unknowable and undefinable, but which may be considered as INFINITE LIVING MIND.

It says that The All is Mind, the Universe is Mental. The All is in the All–and–All is in All.

2.  The Principle of Correspondence—“As above, so below; as below, so above”. This explains that there is a harmony, or agreement between all the planes of existence. (Physical, mental and Spiritual planes). There is an agreement between each of these planes and because each of these planes emanate from the same SOURCE, there is a correspondence that permeates through each plane.

3.  The Principle of Vibration—“Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates” From the grossest forms of matter to the subtlest of which is aether, nothing remains still, everything moves. The further up the scale of life we move, the faster we vibrate.

4.  The Principle of Polarity—“Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.”

5.  The Principle of Rhythm—“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left.  Rhythm compensates.”

6.  The Principle of Cause and Effect—“Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause. Everything happens according to Law; chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”

7.  The Principle of Gender—“Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes.”

—The Kybalion—

In the next few entries, I will explain each of these laws in a little more detail and also explain how to consciously apply these laws to our everyday lives.

Until next time…
